USING THE SAMPLE DATABASE
The
Sample Franchisor Database was created in December of
2009 and contains 94 contacts and 63 franchisors. It is
representative of the larger database that includes over
3,000 active North American franchisors. To make the sorting
process easier within the database, we have included a
filter that allows clients to sort a particular column
by simply clicking on the arrow in the extreme right of
each column heading and selecting the sort mechanism you
prefer (A to Z or Z to A).
To
activate the Sample Franchisor Database,
it is important that you first enable the macros (this process
is very easy and does not jeopardize your computer in any
way).
- Open
the file SAMPLEDB-EXCEL.xls.
- You will see “Security Warning: Some active
content has been disabled.”
- Click Options.
- Click “Enable This Content.” To allay
any concerns you might have about enabling the macros,
please read the instructions at LGR
Macro (if you have MS Office 2007, please read
the instructions at LGR
Macro 2007).
- The database will open with the names of franchisors
listed in rows and details about each franchisor listed
in columns.
- To view an individual franchisor’s information
in a profile format, simply click on the word Profile
in Column A adjacent to the company’s name. This
will display all of the information about the company
that is noted on the spreadsheet (including multiple
contacts).
- To
return to the spreadsheet, simply click the Franchises
button in Cell A1.
